A Second Breath for New Beginnings

Meet Second Breath Response:

We know that in an emergency, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. That’s why we created a hands-on training program right here in Abbotsford that focuses on action. Through our "Overdose Prevention Relay," we help teams practice exactly what to do—so when an emergency happens, the body knows how.

Our Programs

Through the BC Employer Training Grant (ETG), your business may be eligible to have the provincial government pay for the majority of our training fees.

How it works:

    1. Select Your Training: Contact us to book your Naloxone Refreshers or Full Training.
    2. Apply Online: Use your Business BCeID to apply for the grant via WorkBC (we can provide the course details you'll need for the form).
    3. Get Approved: Most applications are processed within 2 weeks.
    4. Complete Training: We train your team and provide certificates.
    5. Get Reimbursed: Submit your receipt to the Province and receive 80% of the cost back (up to $10,000 per employee).

Important Note: To qualify for the grant, your business must have been operating in BC for at least one year.

Modern Century First Aid:

Studies in emergency medicine show that in high-stress situations, individuals experience "Cognitive Tunneling." Without physical practice, the brain often fails to recall written instructions, leading to a 40–60% delay in emergency response times.

The Solution:

The Second Breath "Kinetic" Method

Our signature Overdose Prevention Relay uses the principles of Stress Exposure Training (SET) to move knowledge from short-term memory to muscle memory.

OH&S Training

We provide professional Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) training to equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to create safe and healthy work environments. Our certified courses are tailored to meet industry standards and regulations.

Key Benefits of Our Hands-On Approach

Reduced Response Latency: Participants who have physically used a trainer device (Nasal or IM) respond up to 3x faster in real-world scenarios.

  • The "Muscle Memory" Advantage: By physically moving through the SAVEME
  • protocol, the body learns to react even when the mind is under stress.
  • Addressing the "Post-Revival" Window: We train for what happens after the Naloxone works—managing potential combativeness and the "Second Drop" risk (when Naloxone wears off before the opioid does).
